Hello, I'm Dr. Amelia Hicks

My research seeks to help those living with traumatic brain injury live personally meaningful and satisfying lives.

About

A quick look at what I do.

The passion and purpose that drives my research is to help brain injury survivors live a ‘good life’ for as many years as possible. To me, this means a life that is personally meaningful, fulfilling, and satisfying. I have worked with brain injury survivors for almost 10 years now. It is remarkable to see people re-build their lives in the face of catastrophic loss following a brain injury, and I am grateful to work with these individuals.

I am fortunate to work within the renowned research environment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Surrounded by experts in the field of traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases, and clinical research - we work together to understand what happens in the brain many years after TBI.

Beyond the lab, I share my science at conferences and connect with others who share my commitment to improving outcomes after TBI.

I hope my work will benefit TBI survivors and their families, and am driven to translate our research into real-world advancements.
